Tornadoes have hit some, and are heading toward other areas of the U.S. NABSW's Disaster Response Task Force has reached out to chapters in 10 states and are requesting that members in the following communities be prepared and offer assistance if you are near these areas, but not impacted by the severe weather:
Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas, Ohio, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Virginia.
If your local community is impacted, please do the following:
Contact the National office and provide the Disaster Task Force an update on the destruction, the extent to which African American communities have been affected and current needs for support.
If your local community is not affected, please do the following:
Provide any type of support to those impacted by the severe weather and give a report to the Disaster Task Force on the assistance you have provided; the destruction in the area; the needs of the community and to the best of your knowledge, the number of people impacted.
